Remember that inspirational girl I mentioned? The one in a wheelchair, running to be the face of a new beauty campaign? Well, she won that contest. And it was amazing.
And after all that hair and makeup and styling and set design and photography and editing… this gorgeous being was turned out:
If you want the full scoop, just go google “Jessica Kruger Lise Watier” and about 200+ articles, tv clips, radio snippets and photos will come up. This girl is a media maven!
Now, a side-benefit of Jess going to Montreal was that I got to go with her 🙂 And a side-benefit of *that* was that Jon drove up from Maine to visit. Yes, yes, after 8 weeks of long-distance-marriaging, I actually got to see my dang husband for 6 glorious days (*go ahead and insert your conjugal visit joke here*).
We celebrated 8 months of marriage, had a 1-month belated birthday cake, ate poutine, devoured the freshly-cooked Maine lobsters that Jon brought with him, visited the Botanical Gardens, rode Bixi bikes, hiked a mini-mountain, swam in a lake, tried Vietnamese, stayed in a loft in a corn field, and just generally tried to make the most of every minute we had together.
And I have proof 🙂
This was our loft…
I was sorta happy to see Jon again 😉
Especially since he brought 6 of these things (I ate 3) (hehehe)
The botanical gardens of Montreal were pretty spectacular,
This is Jon saving the white pants with a tide-to-go-pen, not me knighting him 😉
It’s very handy having a sister who will snap random photos of you and your husband…
You never know what special moments she’ll capture 😉
Did I mention that we ate some poutine??
This ultra-light was having a good time buzz-bombing us, and sprinkling petals (you can actually see them in the sky… no idea what that was all about!)
There was a Sunday morning breakfast at a hole-in-the-wall,
Followed by some Bixi biking (excellent system! just don’t leave your credit card in the machine… dangit!)
Jon’s a bit of a bike afficiando. I tried to get a picture of him doing wheelies (on a BIXI bike for heavens’ sake!) but I’m not quite stable enough to manage the camera and the whole balancing thing at the same time!
I missed Jon’s birthday (June 19) so we had a belated cake…
And we even managed to find a sunny beach with a delightfully warm lake to swim in 🙂
And then, after one last poutine, it was all over.
Now we’re back to our East Coast/West Coast lives, hoping and waiting and crossing our fingers that my immigration paperwork will. be. finished. SOON! At which point, ironically enough, we’ll go back to Montreal for immigration interviews (their consulate is the closest to Maine) and maybe a little more poutine 😉
Leah <3
So happy for your sister Leah, she is so gorgeous! You guys both look great after your amazing winter adventure. It’s not easy to live a full life, would be easier to stay in the “system”. You are doing great. Leah please email me if you have a min and would like to get a cup of coffee somewhere in Brunswick or Freeport.
