Two years ago, Jon told me about New York Harbour.
“My dream is that one day we’ll sail Brio by the Statue of Liberty,” he confided, “as we make our way north to Maine”.
Well folks, I think we can safely cross this one off the bucket-list.
Sometimes when you realize a dream that you’ve been working towards for a really long time, the actual moment can feel like a bit of a let-down. But New York City? Not a let down. Not even a little bit.
Sailing in to the New York Harbour with Lady Liberty on the left and the NYC skyline on the right is AWESOME.

GoPro kite-camera was meant for this moment
Even the exhaustion of 3 nights spent beating up the Jersey coast can’t wipe the smiles off our faces… this is one arrival we won’t soon forget.

New York’s new skyline featuring prominently in the background
And while there aren’t any free docks in NYC (darn!), there is a free anchorage right beside the Statue of Liberty…

Tucked in beside Lady Liberty herself
So that’s where we’ll be (zonked) for the next 24 hours, sleeping off a hard passage before we hit the Big Apple for real.
I know it’s corny, but sometimes dreams really do come true. I for one am pretty darn excited that this one did 🙂
